Alpine Flowers Pyrenees
We are enjoying a very warm and settled spring here in the Pyrenees, the winter snows are melting quickly.
The early alpine flowers that appear as soon as the snows melt are now covering the slopes of the Col du Tourmalet.
Soldenella alpina (Alpine Snowbell), Pyrenean Buttercup and Spring Gentians were plentiful on a short circuit we did this morning beneath the Col du Tourmalet, we were at 1800 meters with an air temperature of 20C, remarkable for May.
It looks like it should be a great season for our alpines.
