French Pyrenees Bird Outing
A windy start to the day for our birding trip high in the mountains of the Hautes Pyrenees, we were accompanied by Christian, a retired ornithologist from the Pyrenees National Park. The birds put on a good performance with numerous Griffon Vultures, a close sighting of a pair of Lammergeiers, a Golden Eagle, other birds we saw included Chough and Alpine Chough, female Rock Thrush, Linnet, Stonechat, Red-backed Shrike, Yellowhammer, Water Pipit, Dunnock. A Roe Deer also put in a guest appearance. The hillsides were carpeted with Gentians and Early Purple Orchids.
